Hairdressing myth #1.

Hairdressing myth #1.

I wanted to reveal a huge hair myth - "If I don't cut my hair it will grow faster."
Not true!
Did you know that if you actually cut your hair every 6-8 weeks, it will be more beneficial for your hair?!
The freak out and the upside
Let me elaborate on one scenario. Your hair is damaged. You had brunette hair and you've recently gone blonde and it has resulted in a chemical haircut.
I see this so often, and when I recommend a haircut, and another one in 6 weeks my client (usually new) FREAKS OUT! With some convincing the client accepts the haircut, and 6 months later and their hair is growing like grass and is also lush and healthy.
How does cutting my hair help it to grow?
How does this happen - I can almost hear you thinking it. Well let me elaborate.
So your hair is damaged and split. You don't want to cut it because it's already shorter than you would like, but what is going to happen is that the split is going to split higher, and higher, and higher. If this is not remedied, it will result in even more damage, and shorter hair.
If you get a good haircut, and then another one in 6-8 weeks, we are cutting those split ends off and they are not getting any higher. This results in HEALTHIER hair, that WILL grow!
This goes for all hair types. If you want long hair, book in for a regular trim. Even if you have virgin hair, it may be that the heated styling tools you use are damaging the ends of your hair, or that messy top knot you wear everyday is weakening your poor hair cuticles (the outermost part of the hair shaft).
I am not advising that you get a 5cm trim every time you visit your hair salon - you just need the ends cleaned off. 1-2cm MAX!
So if we recommend this, please trust us. We know what we're doing. Like they say, it doesn't happen overnight, but it will happen!
*Repairing home care is also recommended.
